Gölden Palace - Touch Me There (2009)

Recorded in 2008-2009 and only receiving a local underground release, Touch Me There sees Gölden Palace return with a more skate-punk and ska feel in the style of early Goldfinger and Sum 41. The album was finally released worldwide in July 2015 upon Gölden Palace's reunion concert. Highlights are the high energy With or Without Your Love and the beachy AOR-inspired rock song Summer Heat. Vitne is a guitarist and songwriter in Gölden Palace.

A Note From Vitne about Touch Me There:

When I returned from Full Sail University for audio engineering, Gölden Palace quickly got back together and began playing shows again. It was like we didn't lose a beat. We also had tons of material built up, so we decided to do a new record, but this time instead of paying major studio fees, I would record us.

This was a major learning experience for me, as it was my first time recording anything myself other than bad demos. Because of this, there were a number of songs that were recorded but didn't make the cut for the final record. The ones that did, however, I'm really pleased with.

These songs show Gölden Palace slightly more raw than in A Little Rock N' Roll, but higher energy and more in line with our skate punk roots. We were all in a punk rock band called 5th March in high school, listening to bands like Goldfinger, NOFX, Sum 41, Mustard Plug and Less Than Jake all the time. While A Little Rock N' Roll was a vast mixture of all our influences like glam metal and classic rock, Touch Me There is certainly more skate punk.

We came up with the name after a rehearsal one day in 2009. We were all sitting around the pool at Johnny's parents' house and we were bouncing names off eachother when one of us said "what about Touch Me There?" I remember Andy (we added a 2nd guitarist in 2008) almost immediately said "YES!" It was a pretty quick decision. We wanted this record to capture our humor and personalities a little more, and I really feel that it does.

Since Gölden Palace was put on hold when I moved to LA, and ultimately to Norway, nothing ended up happening with Touch Me There...until 2015. I found the mixes, sent them off to mastering, and they sounded awesome. I and we were finally in a position to release it, and we ended up reuniting for a 10th-Anniversary concert (the 10th anniversary of our first album, A Little Rock N' Roll, and our 11th anniversary as a band) to a nearly sold-out crowd. It was amazing!
