NOT FAR FROM SHALLOW WATER (2013)
Not Far From Shallow Water is comprised of slightly reworked songs previously released by Vitne's two prior bands, SEKS and HART. This 4-song EP was released April 2, 2013 as a companion to his music video for the title track Not Far From Shallow Water, which won the Best Music Video award by the Akademia Awards in September 2013. The album has a heavy hair-metal edge and also contains Rock Me, a rerecorded fan-favorite song originally done by SEKS. The music video chronicles his time touring Norway with the band in 2011.
A Note From Vitne about NOT FAR FROM SHALLOW WATER:
This EP is the first thing I released after I decided to do some solo music. I had just moved into my new house, and my bedroom was totally empty except for a mattress. So, I got the idea to try something. I broke out my camera, set up some lights, and started filming.
The result was the music video for "Not Far From Shallow Water." The video is still one of my favorites I've done. It really captured the essence of the song. I originally wrote that song back in 2007, and it was about dealing with depression, loneliness and potential addiction. The song first was released on the SEKS Harder Then You album, but really it had no place on that album, it wasn't SEKS at all, it was Vitne.
So with a new, debut Vitne music video, I needed something to release alongside the video. So, I slightly reworked some more songs, some SEKS favorites as well as the remixed version of "Rock Me" from the HART album.
This is a cool little look back at the beginnings of me singing and some of my first recordings.
